Richard Burbidge, chairman and chief executive of Richard Burbidge Ltd, received an OBE in the new year honours list for services to business and the local community.
Mr Burbidge is chairman of the Institute of Orthopaedics, a charitable body which funds research and post-graduate training at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt hospital in Oswestry, and was chairman of the NHS Trust at the hospital from 1994-2000.
He was chairman of the Spinal Injuries Appeal at the hospital and is chairman of the Torch Appeal which is raising funds for a special unit for children with movement difficulties.
In his business roles, Mr Burbidge is chairman elect of TRADA and he has been a director for several years.
