The timber trade has donated or pledged US$41,800 to the Tsunami Appeal launched by Michael Buckley of Turnstone Communications in the wake of the Asian disaster.

Mr Buckley said that US$22,800 in cash has been raised, of which US$10,000 has already gone for humanitarian aid.

He added: “However, we have a further US$19,000 offered for reconstruction once we have a project in our sights. So, in total we so far have US$41,800 in donations and promises, which gives us real confidence that we can make a difference with a school or orphanage building on behalf of the timber trade and friends.”
