Timber frame industry professionals flocked to a series of seminars in the UK and Ireland which showcased Consultec’s new Whole House Engineering software.

The seminars demonstrated the functionalities of the software, its link with Gang-Nail‘s roof and truss software and its ability to allow timber frame manufacturers and designers to generate structural and engineering calculations as part of the design process.

Users can reduce the time cycle for timber frame buildings from a week and a half on the drawing board to just one or two days on the computer.

Otto Blank, a director of Christian Torsten Ltd said that Whole House Engineering looked to be “a very good product which is well ahead of the market”, while Mike Baron of Masonite Beams UK said the long-awaited software would quickly gain wide use in the industry.

Steve Linge, a director of Merronbrook Ltd, described it as achieving the ultimate aim of integrating timber frame software with roof truss design and manufacture.

Consultec, which is part of Eleco plc, the building systems and software development group, said the seminars generated strong demand for further events on product improvements, new products and user group meetings.
