Interfor will receive C$21.7m in compensation from British Columbia’s government for the loss of logging rights as part of the provincial forestry revitalisation plan.
The company stands to lose 579,000m3 of harvesting rights from replaceable tenure and 20% from timber licences in the plan, which is designed to turn the province’s forestry management into a more market-based system.
