A government-commissioned report looking into modern methods of construction (MMC), including timber frame, is to be delivered a year early.
The report, co-ordinated by the House Builders Federation (HBF) and involving 50 stakeholder groups including the UK Timber Frame Association, will be delivered to government ministers in June to help keep housing targets on track.
Head of Westbury Partnerships Ashley Lane, who is leading the steering group drawing up the report, confirmed the timetable following the group’s latest meeting at the HBF on April 12.
The work, ordered by the government following publication of the Barker Review of housing supply, identifies barriers to MMC and explores key areas of accelerating its use.
An initial report was delivered to ministers late last year. Findings are expected to be released at the Housebuilding 2005 exhibition at London’s Building Design Centre on September 7-8.
