The installation of a Busellato machining centre and edgbander has allowed a Birmingham kitchen maker to expand into the bedroom furniture sector.
The Kitchen Factory invested about £150,000 on a Busellato Jet 130 CNC machining centre, edgebander, extraction facilities and ancillary works, doubling capacity in the process.
Production director Arthur Marshall said the technology had enabled the company to diversify from its normal retail work into serving the trade.
The machinery was supplied by Coventry-based Ney Ltd, which showed Mr Marshall and Kitchen Factory managing director Keith Bakewell how the technology was already operating successfully at Dublin-based Quality Kitchens.
