The Philippines’ government says it seized P1.1m worth of illegal forest products between January and March.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) campaign against illegal logging yielded some 69,566 board feet of illegal timber.
DENR regional executive director Jim Sampulna said the average timber confiscation per month during the period was about 23,000 board feet.
Civilians and local government units helped police and military in seizure operations.
