A series of trade forums in four African producer countries are to take place to communicate changes in requirements for legal and sustainable timber.

The Timber Trade Federation and the Inter-African Forest Industries Association have organised the forums and, with funds from the UK Department for International Development, have commissioned a series of reports on international and European markets by market specialists.

The forums will take place in Ghana on May 17 and 18, Cameroon on May 24 and 25, Gabon on June 29 and 30, and Congo-B on July 5 and 6 and the programme will conclude with a conference in Brussels in October.

The forums will consist of one day of formal presentation and discussions of the changing markets and how to meet their requirements, followed by a day of business-to-business networking, informal meetings and a press conference.

EU traders and industry representatives are welcome to attend and should register their interest with either Christina Connolly at ifia@wanadoo.fr, Andy Roby at ajroby@ttf.co.uk or Emily Fripp at emily.fripp@btinternet.com.
