A timber frame residential and holiday home manufacturer has cut its panel sizing time by investing in a Striebig Control vertical panel saw.
Wessex Homes, of Blandford Forum, bought the Control to replace a manual Italian machine.
The Striebig cuts 8x4ft plywood panels, ranging from 6-18mm thick, into sections for use as internal screens, in ceilings and for general finishing. Sections of 18mm thick plywood are sized for buildings’ outside skirts, while 8x6ft melamine panels are cut for bedroom shelving.
Staff have made up a special jig to allow shaped barge end plywood panels to be cut on the saw.
The Control, supplied by Leicester-based TM Machinery Sales Ltd, was specified as a 6.5m long 6224 version, capable of cutting 5.3m sheets. Striebig saws cost from £8,300 to £25,000
