Boise Building Products’ BCI joists and associated products have been specified for a major holiday accommodation development on the Isle of Wight.

Timber engineering specialist Morey’s selected Boise 406 BCI 600 joists with 406 range Versa-Lam beams and Versa-Rim board for the floors in 20 chalets at the Burnard Pines Holiday Village near Cowes.

“The contract required a floor area of 88m2 per chalet,” said Boise design team leader James Dalton. “At a value of about £40,000 this is a significant order.”

Boise designed the floor structures based on the architect’s specification at its new headquarters in Bicester.

“We had to design the structure to take into account the roof loadings and achieve clear spans of up to 7.1m,” said Mr Dalton.

The long spans were achieved by using the Versa-Lam beams as floor beams and spanning them with the 406mm deep BCI joists.
