A damning report alleging that thousands of tonnes of timber were logged from the Snowy River National Park during the 2003 bushfires has been published.
The report, by the auditor general, maintains that rather than the usual 10m fire break, a line of up to 100m was cleared. Valuable logs were cut down and taken to sawmills while high flammable logs were left standing.
