Former Weinig UK chief Barry Hughes told TTJ that there is a “new kid on the block” in the UK’s solid wood machining sector.

Mr Hughes, who has been appointed to head up RW Woodmachines‘ new solid wood division, was on the Gau Jing stand – RW’s first signing for the division.

The Taiwanese throughfeed moulder manufacturer could be followed onto RW’s books soon by a window line manufacturer.

Mr Hughes said: “I do not believe there is a serious player in solid timber in the UK, apart from Weinig. We are the new kid on the block.”

He said Gau Jing had been producing medium and heavy-duty moulders for more than 15 years.

The Gau Jing product is designed to be a cost-effective moulding solution but it benefits from servicing, spare parts and technical back-up.
