WWF and the Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Association have teamed up to start a trading network for the country’s forest products.

The trading system, part of WWF’s Global Forest and Trade Network, is designed to cement relationships between forest managers and timber processors. It will help companies secure certificates which show legal origins of products and can give them access to European markets.

Vietnamese exports of wood products have tripled since the mid-1990s. More than 1,200 companies are involved in timber processing, with a capacity of around two million m3 per year.
