A new wood fuel venture is “working flat out” to process orders and enquiries generated during its launch at the Northumberland County Show.

Hexham-based Warmwoods, the brainchild of Andrew Jewitt, Dean Dockray and Andrew Peel, has been set up to meet growing demand for high quality wood fuel which is sustainably sourced and traditionally processed.

Mr Jewitt said: “There are a lot of misconceptions about wood fuel, but more and more people are now realising that it is one of the most environmental fuels available.”

The three partners have more than 50 years’ combined experience in all aspects of forestry and are linked with the Ignite training programme, which is designed to grow the woodfuel industry in the north-east. They intend to create a more professional image of what they say has long been perceived as a “casual sector”.
