Weyerhaeuser has embarked on a massive tree planting campaign on its Saskatchewan Forest Management Agreement (FMA) areas.

The company aims to plant 10.7 million seedlings this year – 7.4 million on its Prince Albert FMA and 3.3 million on the Pasquia-Porcupine FMA.

Seedlings being planted include white spruce, jack pine and black spruce.

Contractors will also treat more than 3,500ha of land on both FMAs to encourage natural regeneration of conifers. A further 2,500ha of harvested land will be allowed to return to aspen stands.
