Don Peebles, partner and co-founder of P&P Timber, died on June 19.
Mr Peebles spent his working career in the timber industry, joining Edwards & Snook at East Moors in Cardiff after leaving school.
Following his National Service in the RAF, he returned to his previous job for a short period before joining Denny Mott & Dickson.
In 1964 Denny Mott & Dickson moved to a new site with timber storage and milling facilities at Queen Alexandra Dock, Cardiff. Mr Peebles stayed there through its various takeovers until 1994 when the Cardiff operation moved to Portbury, Bristol.
After a short period he left to set up his own company – P&P Timber – near the site of the original company of Mallinson Denny, on Cardiff Dock. His sons Chris and Ian remain in the company today.
