AL Dalton Ltd has reinforced its position in the woodworking machinery market by securing distribution rights to Saom CNC machining centres, Fravol edge-banders, wide-belt and edge-sanding machines from Swiss manufacturer Kundig and heavy duty planing and thicknessing machines from Hoffman.

Dalton’s director Francis Dalton stressed that the new arrangements did not mean a change of direction for the company, but represented a strengthening of its well-established relationship with the timber industry. He said Daltons would now be able to relate more fully to furniture and other related sectors as well as with solid timber users.

Mr Dalton also said that the company’s involvement as sole UK distributor of the Wadkin classical machine range, sole importer and distributor of the Dutch manufactured Elcon vertical panel saws and main distributor for stand alone resaws from UK manufacturer Stenner would be unaffected.

He said: “We have no intention of backing away from our long established involvement in the solid timber sector and in particular the distribution of these famous products, but we feel we have an opportunity to widen our customer base by adding further quality machines to our existing range.”

Examples of the Saom and Fravol machines will be displayed at the Woodworking Ireland exhibition on September 8-10 and others are on display at Daltons Nottingham showrooms.
