The TTJ Awards will see the launch of a Forest Education Initiative (FEI) scheme which aims to foster corporate social responsibility in the timber industry.

FEI’s corporate associate scheme, to be unveiled at awards venue The Savoy on September 15, offers forest, timber and wood products businesses a way of contributing to its work educating young people and building the reputation of the industry.

FEI president Terence Mallinson said the industry and FEI must ensure the information young people received about the sector was correct, exciting and interesting.

“We must inspire them to choose our industry when it comes to a career, and to choose wood when, throughout their lifetime, they buy or specify materials and products,” he added.

Companies are asked to make regular donations to help secure the “industry’s reputation and future”and become involved in FEI activities.

Leaflets will be available at the TTJ Awards or via FEI’s website at www.foresteducation.org
