Anybody involved in illegal logging in Malaysia will be given prison sentences under new laws currently being prepared.
The legislation, expected to be introduced within six months, is a new approach by the government, which says the current penalty fine system has failed to curb illegal logging.
Jail sentences are expected to range from between one and 20 years.
