Germany is to invest €4.5m helping Vietnam develop its forest management and marketing of forestry products.
The German Agency for Technical Co-operation signed an agreement with Vietnam’s ministry of agriculture and rural development in Hanoi on August 30.
In its first year, the project will help people living in rural areas and state-owned farms to apply new forest management methods and improve the processing and marketing of forest products. It will then focus on consultancy to help districts carry out forest management policies.
Trials will be held at three farms – Van Chan in northern Yen Bai province, Ninh Son in central Ninh Thuan and Madrak in central highland Dac Lac, as well as two forestry companies in central Quang Binh and central highland Kon Tum.
