Roger Cooper has been appointed chairman of the UK Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS) interpretation panel in preparation for the launch of a revised standard next year.
The interpretation panel will provide guidance on the practical implementation of the standard at forest level.
Mr Cooper served as head of agricultural and forest sciences at the University of Wales between 1997-2004.
