Scotbuild, Scotland’s answer to Interbuild, has been cancelled due to a “significant shortage” of exhibitors.

The organisers of the event, due to take place in Edinburgh on October 30-31, said no decision has yet been made about what will happen to the show, which has run once every two years since 1972.

Declan Gane, marketing manager at Montgomery, a group of companies which organises exhibitions, said: “The number of exhibitors at Scotbuild has been reducing over a period of years and this year we tried to rejuvenate the show by changing the focus from architects to builders, plumbers and electricians – but we didn’t get the support and decided it was better to cancel.”
