Increasing awareness of the need to protect against fire has led to a number of orders from panel manufacturers for Stockholm-based Firefly AB.
The main factor for strong sales of the company’s PressGuard worldwide is its ability to detect and extinguish fires on continuous presses without production loss.
Firefly sales and marketing manager Jamshid Lodhi said: “As the awareness among plants and the insurance industry is increasing, there are many reasons for protecting the press against fire.
“As the available maintenance time is reduced and plants tend to produce more board and many times thinner board, dust accumulation becomes difficult to control and the press catches fire more easily.
“Lengthy downtime can be devastating even with full insurance cover as plants can find it difficult to recover from market share loss.”
So far this year Firefly has supplied PressGuard for Siempelkamp, Metso, Küster and Dieffenbacher continuous presses in countries including Spain, Slovenia, Malaysia, China, Greece, Argentina, Brazil and Australia.
