Canadian company Sino-Forest is bullish about future prospects in the Chinese forestry sector after recording a 137% rise in third-quarter profits to US$33.2m.
Sino-Forest, which operates commercial plantations in China, saw sales soar 52% to US$144.4m.
It attributed the good performance to higher sales of standing timber and wood chips.
Standing timber sales almost tripled but the average price per hectare dipped because of the sale of younger pine trees to make room for genetically improved fast-growing seedlings.
