Michael Clark has been appointed chairman of PEFC UK Ltd to succeed Len Yull who is stepping down as chairman and national secretary. Mr Yull will continue as a director of the company.

Mr Clark is vice-president of the consumer packaging division of the M-real Corp, a board member of the PEFC Council in Luxembourg and president of Pro Carton International.

Willie Walker is joining PEFC UK to take on the role of national secretary. He has been involved in the forestry industry for 40 years and since the 1990s has managed CANOPY, a sustainable forestry consultancy. He is also chairman of the Institute of Chartered Foresters‘ professional examination board.

Three directors have also been appointed to the PEFC board. They are Professor Hugh Miller, a former head of the Department of Forestry at the University of Aberdeen; Peter Latham, deputy chairman of James Latham plc, chair of Forests Forever and a member of the council of the Commonwealth Forestry Association; and Martin Gale, vice-president, international forestry at UPM, a non executive Forestry Commissioner, a non executive director of BSW Timber, a director of Forest Industries (UK) Ltd, and a former president of the Confederation of Paper Industries.
