Builders merchant Buildbase has been named Best National Builders Merchant for the second time in three years.
The company, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in January, has grown from a single depot to a 111-branch network with a turnover apporaching £400m and a workforce of around 2000.
The judges were impressed by the low staff turnover at Buildbase, and by the fact that, where possible, employees are given responsibility and accountability.
Buildbase chief executive Kevin Middleton said: “The building trade is a very close-knit community and we pride ourselves on offering a truly local and personal service at each branch. We recognise that there are very different trading needs at each branch and this flexibility is what our customers like.”
