Ireland-based builders merchants and DIY group Grafton Group plc has expanded its network of branches by acquiring Garvey’s Builders Merchants Ltd for an undisclosed amount.
Roscommon-based Garvey’s, a fourth generation merchant established in 1861, has an annual turnover of more than €10m with gross assets worth €2.6m.
Leo Martin, Grafton executive director, said: “Garvey’s is an ideal geographical fit with Grafton’s existing builders merchanting branch network and provides the group with a strong presence in an important midlands town where it was not previously represented.”
Garvey’s, whose product offering includes timber and wood products, wooden flooring and garden furniture, services the repair, maintenance and improvement sector, plus residential construction markets.
Grafton, which operates the Buildbase and Jackson merchanting chains, recorded an overall pre-tax profit of €131.9m in 2004.
