The identities of a US lumber lobby group’s members have been exposed in an e-mail accidentally sent to journalists.
The US Coalition for Fair Lumber Imports, which has closely guarded the identity of its membership, has members including large lumber companies, land brokers and financial experts.
Members were exposed when the coalition’s lawyers sent a report of the group’s public relations activities to journalists.
Timber company members include International Paper, Sierra Pacific Industries, Potlach Corporation and Plum Creek Timber company.
Members are spread across the US, which has enabled the coalition to conduct a successful national campaign against what it calls unfair subsidised Canadian lumber imports.
Previously, the coalition has filed lumber trade cases in the name of regional lumber industry associations and unions, rather than individual companies.
