Setra Group is to invest SKr40m in its Kastet sawmill in a move designed to improve profitability by SKr15m.
The investment, which will make the mill in Gävle more efficient, includes the extension and rebuilding of an existing trimmer, plus expanding drying capacity.
The present three lines in the trimmer will be replaced with a single line featuring an advanced sorting technique which can read grades of timber. This will also reduce dust, noise and vibrations, improving the working environment for staff.
Kent Torwald, Setra president, said the expansion will meet growing demand from customers in the furniture, panel and floor industries, especially for dried timber.
Setra aims to carry out the work during the summer holiday shutdown.
