Lawcris Panel Products has raised £7,500 for the leukaemia ward at Leeds General Infirmary by hosting a charity golf event and auction.
The company decided to support the appeal after its trade centre manager Paul Grange was diagnosed with leukaemia in January 2004.
Amongst the support shown at the event, Welsh rugby player Gavin Henderson donated a signed Ospreys rugby shirt, which raised an impressive £450 alone.
Further support was shown by some of Lawcris’ main suppliers including Kronospan UK and Wilsonart, which donated football tickets for Liverpool FC and Newcastle United games.
The money raised will be used to rejuvenate and improve vital amenities at the infirmary’s haematology unit.
Lawcris’ managing director Simon Hall said: “Leukaemia is the number one cause of death from cancer in young adults and this money will directly benefit the patients who need it the most. We came up with the idea of the event because we thought it would be a great way to raise money for a cause that is close to all our hearts.”
