Fourteenth century roof trusses are to be repaired at St Woolos Cathedral, Newport as part of a £3m repair programme.
A fundraising appeal has been launched to help pay for the work, which will be carried out in five phases over a 10-year period.
The Grade I listed cathedral, which has Saxon and 12th century Norman orgins, last underwent a major restoration in 1864.
