Australia’s only manufacturer of thin HDF is being taken to court for allegedly polluting a river.

The Environmental Protection Agency has charged Australian Hardboards Ltd (AHL), one of the country’s oldest building product suppliers, with causing environmental harm and failing to comply with licence conditions and an environmental management programme.

AHL, which has been issued with a restraining order, is alleged to have released effluent in the Bremer River near Brisbane.

The case will begin at Ipswich Magistrates Court on March 16.
