More than 1,200 people attended the London Floor Show, an 8% growth on last year’s event.
The event was 18% larger than the 2005 exhibition and featured displays by a number of UK and foreign timber flooring companies.
The Plank Company, of Northern Ireland, reported “unbelievable” interest for its range of timber flooring, which included exotic species such as African wenge, Indian rosewood, Brazilian teak, greenheart and Australian jarrah. A company spokesperson said several orders had been won.
Other exhibitors included Nottingham-based BSL Hardwood Floors, FSW Woodfloors, of London, Ammonford-based Mick Jones Timber and French company Panaget SA.
Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) accredited seminars were also held, covering themes such as Building Regulations Part L and sustainability. Ewan Williams of the RIBA Olympic Committee spoke on successful tendering in the London 2012 Olympic bid process.
Show organiser CMP Information said: “London Floor Show 2006 was a hugely successful event. Comments from all exhibitors were that it was better than last year and that there had been an increase of visitors to their stands, including a large amount of architects and specifiers.”
Other visitors included retailers, contractors, specifers, developers and interior designers.
