An international forum which will explore the issues and opportunities for investment in natural tropical forests will be held in Cancún, Mexico on April 26-27.
The event has been jointly organised by the International Tropical Timber Organisation (ITTO), Forest Trends and the Mexican National Forestry Agency CONAFOR.
Representatives from private and public financial institutions, forestry and conservation agencies and managers of forest products companies in tropical countries are expected to attend.
The organisers said the forum aims to increase the level of understanding on opportunities and constraints for investing in natural tropical forest-based enterprises, and on the kind of information and tools available or needed to promote more responsible investment in natural tropical forests.
