Junckers has completed one of its most complex jobs in recent years for a performing and visual arts centre in Salford.

The hardwood flooring supplier worked with Bain + Bevington Architects on the floor specification for a multi-purpose studio at the Lowry, incorporating a 110m2 hydraulic platform in a pit.

The 22m Ash Classic floor had to appear continuous while the pit was closed – solved by the installation of removeable panels comprising sections of the floor and its sub-structure.

Other considerations included moveable acoustic sub-dividers and the need for bleacher seating.

A total of 470m2 of lacquered flooring was laid onto Junckers’ UnoBat 50 fully sprung sub-floor by contractor Amber Floors.
