Experian’s latest “Foresight” forecast says Wales and southern England will experience the strongest construction growth up to 2008. It predicts UK construction output to rise by 13%.

But compared to growth between 2000 and 2004, all regions are predicted to experience a “marked slowdown”.

Meanwhile, freshly-published DTI figures show that new construction orders rose by 9% in the three months to February, compared to a year ago.

Decreases in private housing and infrastructure orders were offset by growth in public non-housing, private industrial and private commercial orders.
