Glulam is now a mainstream structural product in the UK, according to Gloucester-based Laminated Wood Ltd.
“I think architects are getting more education about glulam in their training,” said the company’s managing director John Mallinckrodt.
He said the market had taken off in the past few years, evidenced by the growth in UK glulam suppliers.
But Mr Mallinckrodt added: “We have to get away from this perception that glulam is an expensive material.”
Laminated Wood, which sources its glulam products from Norway, has revamped its website to include a span table and beam calculator.
