The Yorkshire-based housebuilder carried out the survey at one of its residential developments in Boston Spa and found that heating bills could be reduced from £1,000 a year to just £185 in homes built using the TEK Building System.

The energy efficiency analysis was devised by Ian Clay, managing director of Clays of Addingham.

“With a U-value of just 0.20W/m2K, the TEK Building System provides exceptionally high levels of thermal efficiency,” he said.

“We carried out the analysis to ascertain exactly what impact this level of thermal efficiency has in practice. The results showed that homes constructed using the TEK Building System use less than a fifth of the energy that traditionally built properties use for heating, minimising bills and CO2 emissions.”

The Kingspan TEK Building System is made up of 110mm of high performance rigid urethane insulation, which has a zero ODP, sandwiched between two sheets of OSB, giving it excellent thermal performance. This performance is boosted by the high level of airtightness the system delivers, achieved by the unique sealed joining system that the panel features that minimises the amount of air that can pass through the joints, once constructed.
