Messe München GmbH said a 40% sales growth in harvesters and forwarders during the past three years could also be attributed to the new status of fuel wood, increased activity in privately-owned forests and restructuring of state-owned forestry operations.

Statistics gathered by the German Centre for Forest Work and Technology (KWF) show that 461 machines were sold during 2005.

Interforst 2006, the International trade fair for forestry and forest technology, will take place in Munich on July 12-16.

A new feature of the exhibition will be the KWF Innovations Competition, which recognises innovative developments.

More than a third (33) of the 82 entries are related to cropping, harvesting and transporting wood, while 11 entries cover information management and surveying. Remaining entries include fuel wood technology, wood processing and tree care.
