The company has persuaded the US Supreme Court to hear its appeal of an anti-trust judgement in 2003, which awarded US$78m to competitior Ross-Simmons Hardwood Lumber Co.
Ross-Simmons, based in Longview, claimed Weyerhaeuser’s monopoly of the alder trade had forced it out of business.
An earlier Weyerhaeuser appeal was turned down by a court in San Francisco. But Weyerhaeuser claims the court failed to follow Supreme Court precedent.
