The rating, achieved at Universal Materials Testing at the University of Sunderland, is an improvement on the 84% recorded last year.

Gainsborough-based HLD said it had further improved its Antislip Plus system, which features a castellated profile and aggregate-impregnated resin strips, to secure the higher skid resistance.

The minimum required standard for deck skid resistance is 65%, which achieves an “extremely low” rating in terms of slipping potential.

HLD said structural timber decking and deck products have become increasingly popular for a wide range of applications, but improved grip was needed in situations where the decks may become slippery in wet conditions.
