The United Kingdom Accreditation Service has certified the laboratory and its test processes as fully complying with the International Standard BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 – “the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories”.

The European Test Lab is the first manufacturer’s lab in Europe to achieve the standard, a process which took 12 months. Simpson Strong-Tie already has accredited test laboratories in the US.

It means that all testing associated with CE marking, as well as development testing, can be carried out in-house and is acceptable to all members of the European Organisation for Technical Approvals who issue European Technical Approvals for products.

“The accreditation of our European test facility not only sets the standards for the connector industry as a whole, it sets Simpson Strong-Tie as a global leader in this field,” said Ian Harrison, the company’s technical director.

“It is vital our customers and specifiers are confident in the reliability and accuracy of our product testing and this accreditation is the ultimate endorsement,” he added.
