The Barclays Premiership Trophy, one of the most famous symbols in football, spent the day at North Yorkshire Timber’s (NYT) sales centre at Northallerton Business Park recently.
Throughout the day football fans paid £1 to have their photo taken with the trophy. The money raised went to local charity Chopsticks which provides disabled people with supported work opportunities converting scrap timber into kindling wood and providing garden care for elderly and disabled people in the area. The charity is about to start work on a workshop opposite North Yorkshire Timber.
Sales and marketing director Nick Kershaw said: it was a coup to get the trophy as part of its whirlwind tour of the UK “and we gave it pride of place”.
“NYT plays in several local leagues and we do very well but I think this is the nearest any of us will ever get to the premiership,” he said.
