The Petersfield-based company, which claims to have attracted interest from breweries, invited members of Hampshire’s licensing trade to its recent launch.
“We launched Smoke Out to specifically address the imminent ban and the needs of smoking customers,” said Smoke Out director Marcus Roebuck, who started the company with fellow director Glenn Hassell.
“The majority of products being brought onto the market are basically converted sheds, bus shelters or awnings and umbrellas.”
Smoke Out has invested about £25,000 in its sales and installation operation. Manufacturing is initially being contracted out but the company eventually intends to set up its own production facilities.
Architects, suppliers, contractors and end users all contributed to designing the treated softwood structures.
A survey carried out by Smoke Out during its launch day revealed that most pub landlords feared the smoking ban, due to implemented next summer, would have a major impact on profits. But most attendees had not taken any measures to counteract the ban’s effects.
Smoke Out will be exhibiting at The National Licensed Business Show in September.
