A quarterly survey by the association has revealed that, between April and June, orders went up by 5.2% compared to the same period on 2005.

ACIMALL said the result was due to demand on the Italian market – up 23.5% – and stable export – up by 1%.

Companies interviewed for the survey said that during the first six months of this year, prices increased by 2.1%, and at the end of the second quarter ensured production was stable at 3.4%.

Foreign orders are expected to remain stationary, according to 68% of the interviewees – but overall, the industry mood for the immediate future is cautious with a hint of optimism.
