The acquisition gives T Brewer its fourth site – the others being at Clapham, Lewisham and Amersham which was bought just a year ago.
“Lewis Peasley was a builders merchant which dealt with fencing products primarily,” said T Brewer director Keith Fryer.
“It sold off the builders merchant yard about a year ago and was looking to dispose of this other site which was heavily orientated towards fencing products.
“We came to an arrangement with the company to take over the premises, stock and the four staff. It is ideally located for us being just to the north of London – an area where we had been looking for a site.”
Mr Fryer anticipates that the acquisition will add considerably to Brewer’s sales in the coming year.
“We are very interested in growing its potential to cover the whole range of products that Brewer’s is known for – construction and second fix timber products for the building and allied industries.”
Mr Fryer said that the company would be able to offer special machining from its Clapham mill.
Currently, he said, the new premises are very basic. “The site is about one-third of an acre and consists of a yard, some storage and offices. We are in the process of working out a redevelopment programme which will involve quite a significant investment. To get in all the extra product we will have to put in a lot of racking.”
