The B&WLR has its own workshops and a number of carpenters among the group of volunteers ensure the period look of the maroon and cream carriages is maintained.
Medite Exterior, supplied by WT Eden, has been introduced to replace plywood and provide smooth paint surfaces and machined edges, plus an ability to resist the vagaries of the British weather.
B&WLR’s coachbuilders have already completed two new carriages with another two to follow.
“Medite Exterior has been highly successful for us,” said Bill Best who, with his brother, is joint owner of the B&WLR. “It’s a perfect modern material for replica purposes,” he added.
