An exclusive agreement has been signed between the Seychelles Bureau of Standards (SBS) and BM TRADA in the business management systems and construction products sectors.
The bureau has the mandate to maintain facilities and provide services in the areas of standardisation, quality assurance, metrology and testing.
SBS director-general Terence Coopoosamy said the agreement would help bureau personnel promote management schemes in Seychelles and carry out assessments.
“It is the government’s wish to have public sector organisations operating under the ISO 9001 quality management system as a means of improving service delivery in the public sector, and it is the wish of the bureau to see a culture of quality management developing in the production and service sectors of Seychelles,” he added.
With tourism key to the country’s economy, sustainable management of the environment was vital, said Mr Coopoosamy.
“The ISO 14001 environment management standard is an appropriate tool to use to put in place a system that will limit negaitve impact on the environment and prevent pollution,” he explained.
The SBS general manager for certification services in the Seychelles, Amy Quatre, has undertaken intensive training with BM TRADA auditors at its High Wycombe headquarters, and BM TRADA will carry out training programmes in Seychelles to cover certification principles and procedures.
