The company made the move after Rob Worboys, procurement manager for Lovell, the company’s affordable housing business, saw the programme at Interbuild.

Morgan Sindall has since recommended that its four divisional purchasing teams involved with timber construction specification could benefit from the scheme.

“Organisations like Morgan Sindall clearly recognise the importance of a thorough understanding of the design opportunities, sustainability, durability and selection criteria relating to timber – and the need to fully comprehend the sometimes complex chain of custody issues,” said Charles Trevor, managing director of the Wood for Good campaign.

“We are sure other forward-thinking companies will want to follow when they recognise just how great a contribution this scheme makes to establishing responsible timber purchasing processes,” he added.

Wood for good Online Learning has been developed in co-operation with organisations including the Institute of Wood Science, TRADA and wood for good members, and it is hoped that 15 modules will be available by October.
