“We had great support from Homag UK’s technical team as the limited space in our factory meant it had to design a feed system that fitted in to a very tight footprint,” said Martin Cossington, UWP managing director.

“After several visits and many laser measurements and scratching of heads a plan was agreed upon and as of this week the key turned on one of Homag’s largest beam saw plants in the south-east of England,” continued Mr Cossington.

“This gives us a real springboard into processing various full format sizes from all MDF producers – optimising production with greater yield percentage. The Homag B400 will reduce down time, increase overall production by some 20 % and further increase our ability to be flexible in our production.”

UWP produces standard and made to order primed architrave, skirtings, door linings and window boards,  including a new 350mm width to meet the latest new build building regulations.

“This latest machinery from Homag will really secure our future for the specials and made to order market, which we are known for having also invested in the latest infrared drying technology for our priming line,” said Mr Cossington. “Flexibility and a willingness to be of service is and will be our approach to the markets we service. With nearly 30 years’ experience and great support from all our customers, we are very excited about the future.”
